PhD student – Digital public health
Dr Philip Crilly is a London-based Senior Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice and Digital Public Health and a community pharmacist. He has a PhD in digital public health. As well as working as a community pharmacist, Philip teaches a range of topics including digital public health; over-the-counter medication; consultation skills, and how-to treat common ailments without a GP appointment. He has previously taught at Kings College London, University College London and the University of Hertfordshire. Philip writes freelance Continuing Professional Development (CPD) articles for the Chemist and Druggist magazine (a pharmacy publication) and has contributed monthly health articles to, his then local paper in Northern Ireland, the Fermanagh Herald. He also contributes to the online newspaper, The Conversation
In 2014, Philip was awarded a research grant by the Health Education Foundation to begin his PhD. The outcomes of his research to date have been presented at national level at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Conference (Birmingham, 2016), the Centre for Behaviour Change Digital Health Conference (London, 2017) and the Health Services Research and Pharmacy Practice Conference (HSRPP) (Nottingham, 2017). Philip has also investigated the use of social media as a tool in higher education presenting on this topic at the Pharmacy Education Conference (Manchester, 2015) and the Festival of Learning (Kingston-upon-Thames, 2016).
